INFORMATION
Unfinished hardwood flooring is finished on site.
By site finishing hardwood products the boards appear closer together minimizing the
appearance of seams. This uniform look is extremely popular, but offers a reduced surface durability when compared to prefinished hardwood products.
This is due to the absence of aluminum oxide in its finish as well as the increased risk of installer error (when compared to factory
finished products).
Advantages of Unfinished Hardwood flooring:
- Seams are minimized
- Able to closely match adjacent hardwood
- Greater design choice. Ability to choose you exact stain preference, along with your desired gloss level
- Floor is easily sanded and a new coating applied. With prefinished flooring, the harder finish is more difficult to remove due to the aluminum oxide in the surface.
